A very special room

My favourite room is Joss’ nursery, it’s exactly as I hoped it would be and perfect for a little girl who loves to look around and takes an active interest in the world around her. I thought I’d share some snapshots as I so love looking at other blogger’s rooms! The moody lighting is courtesy of our Gro-anywhere Blind, derigeur in all young children’s rooms at this time of year!

Here goes, this is the felt mobile I made whilst she was a newborn:

Farm bunting by the brilliant Bill Quay Fabric Workshop which I urge you to visit!

Toy and soft furnishing corner, we love owls!

A shelf for hanging teeny tiny baby clothes, we won the Joss Daisy train on a twitter competition and the lovely green wreath featured heavily in our wedding colour scheme and now lives in Joss’ room!

And finally, lots and lots of pictures, here’s just a small selection, we’re a family that likes to have busy walls!

And finally, and brighter, the view from Jossy’s window, our lovely container garden, or yarden!

John Lewis Father’s Day Competition

John Lewis Father's Day Competition

My name is Joss Daisy and I’m one year old. My Daddy is the best Daddy a little girl could hope for. He took me for my first trip to the beach last week and told he about when he took Mammy to the beach on one of their first dates, it was a lovely day and he bought me an icecream which made it an AMAZING day!

He’s always making up silly names for me, like salty otter and Josscat but I don’t mind because he’s also really good at making up funny songs for me to shout along too!

My Daddy always has a smile for me and I always have one for him, he’s good at cuddling, making me food I like and waking me up early from naps which makes Mammy mad but makes me happy because I’d rather play with him then sleep!

This is my entry for the John Lewis Father’s Day Competition!

Real Nappy Week #RNW 2013

Gosh this time last year I was enormous and used my time on mat leave wisely, looking into cloth nappies. Thanks to Go Real I was sent a free Pop In to try, baby came along, two weeks later I had a whole fluffy stash! I’ve blogged before about fluff love, this year I’ve been getting involved in Clothopoly and The Great British Nappy Hunt and have so far won a Bambino Mio in associated competitions. My big loves are Totsbots Easifits and Fuzzibunz Elites, as seen here in a washing action shot!

So here’s my five reasons we cloth bum:

1) No car = risk of last minute emergency nappy low stock, now we always have nappies at hand
2) Environmental friendliness – Brits throw away 3bn sposies a year, which would take 500 years to decompose, a legacy I don’t want to pass on
3) Good old money saving – we broke even by ten months, no more paying out for nappies, I try not to have more than I need selling the smaller size to fund the next
4) More breathable for wee bums
5) Supporting UK manufacturing through Totsbots, and wahm with the odd pretty :-)

PS the cloth bum community at large is amazing, we’ve made a LOT of good friends through it!

If in doubt try a trial pack from your local nappy library, or check out a real nappy week event near you, you won’t regret it!

Teething woes

Ten months old and still no teeth! But lots of chewing and biting going on and dribbly chin – I was lucky enough to be a winner in Gumigem’s 10,000 likes FB competition and won this Sunset beauty, put it away for mother’s day and she’s currently chewing away happily in our sling! Its been a lucky few weeks for comping so I’ll give it a rest and let some other lucky folks receive the congratulations emails!!

It seems to be a daily occurrence that I admire the bonny coloured nappies spinning around the machine! This was taken for a fab Totsbots competition over on Pinterest! I’m also excited because I told Prima magazine of my love of Totsbots nappies, frugal ideas and some of my hobbies and I’m featuring in their March mag out on Thursday, can’t wait to see the feature!
